Plant herbs and lettuces in this hand-thrown clay pot with etched detailing and matte glaze. Two holes at the bottom allow for plant drainage. A unique collaboration between potter Victoria Morris and Edible Gardens LA. A KM Exclusive. (
Two Los Angeles makers teamed up to create this custom-made ceramic pot, decorated with hand-etched patterns and a matte white glaze. This is the very first batch of this design to be offered.
Small holes at the bottom of the pot allow for free drainage and aeration of the soil in order to promote plant health and avoid “root rot” due to stagnant water. Plant thyme or rosemary and keep the pot in your kitchen so that you may snip a sprig to add to your potatoes or meat dishes. The pot may also be used to plant arugula and other baby lettuces for summer salads.
The drainage hole at the bottom of the pot makes it suitable for planting all kinds of herbs, such as thyme, rosemary or lavender. May also be used to plant arugula or baby greens.
Lauri Kranz is the founder and expert gardener behind Edible Gardens LA, an organization that plants organic vegetable gardens in private homes, museums and schools around Los Angeles. She has long admired potter Victoria Morris’ work, and so she asked the native Californian ceramicist to collaborate on special pots for edible plants, such as herbs and lettuces. Victoria’s ceramics are inspired by mid-century Scandinavian design as well as traditional Japanese stoneware vessels, while Lauri was influenced by her favorite music, art, poetry and textiles.
