Spun pewter trinket box for storing jewelry, cuff links or other small items. Polished finish exterior with a brushed satin interior. Ideal for engraving. Made in Sheffield, England since 1949. Available in Small or Medium. (
Place your most precious jewelry, cuff links or other small mementos in this pewter trinket box for safekeeping. A fitted lid ensures that all your items stay secure within. The boxes are created in a process called metal spinning, where pieces of pewter are turned on a lathe at high speeds. A forming block pushes against the material as it spins to create round symmetrical shapes.
Wentworth pewter company makes these delicate trinket boxes. Founded in 1949 by accomplished pewtersmith Arthur Richard Wentworth, the workshops are still active in the traditional steel-producing city of Sheffield, England. Each box is made from English pewter, which holds itself to the material guidelines set out by the European Committee for Standardization. The boxes contain 92% tin. (In order to be properly called pewter, tin values must reach at least 85%.) The tin’s malleability requires the production of pewter to include other metals, such as antimony or copper.
Hand wash with soap and hot water and dry with a soft cloth.
Pewter will keep its shine with minimal maintenance. It doesn't tarnish like silver, but if the trinket box does start to dull, rub it with a bit of standard metal polish using straight line strokes (not circular).
