Pull this streamlined wooden stool up to the breakfast bar each morning as you pause to enjoy your coffee and unfold the morning paper. The classic Windsor design will complement any interior style and the sturdy construction will last for decades of early morning or late night use. The molded seat will keep you comfortable, and cross rungs between each leg allow feet to be tucked back if desired. The legs are secured to the base with a Windsor wedge joint, an especially strong style of joinery, where the chair leg runs entirely through the base, which is then sanded smooth. This construction method ensures that the stool will remain wobble-free, while adding an element of design intrigue by allowing the contrasting wood grain of each leg joint to be seen on the seat.

These stools are made by Ercol, an established English furniture maker with roots that date back to 1920. Lucien Ercolini, an Italian immigrant to the United Kingdom who came from a carpentry family, set up a furniture making company which eventually took a shortened version of his name. Ercolini was named a master of the Furniture Makers Guild in 1957. In the 1960s, he designed this stool to be used by all the designers in his workshop, who would sit at tall drafting desks sketching out furniture designs. Ercolini’s grandson, Edward Tadros, now runs the furniture company, and added the drafting stool to their line in 2010. Learn more about Ercol here.
