10.6 inch pewter cocktail stirrer. Necessary for drinks that contain all-alcoholic ingredients. Prevents air bubbles and little shards of ice from clouding the clarity of the drink. Handmade in Italy. (
Stirring is necessary when preparing a drink that contains all-alcoholic ingredients, a true “cocktail” in the historical sense of the term. The stir prevents air bubbles and little shards of ice from clouding the clarity of the drink, and won't bruise fine alcohols, or ruin the texture of certain mixtures.
The length of the spoon is also perfect for making larger batches of drinks, and the weight in the handle makes a satisfying clink as you stir.
The high polished pewter of this home bar tool is made of a lead-free alloy that’s about 95% tin, food safe, FDA approved and requires little or no care.
Since 3000 BC pewter has been used to make functional and decorative objects for the home. The cocktail stirring spoon, like the rest of the pieces in this bar service collection, come with a hallmark, the signature of the skilled artisan who crafted it by hand.
Place all ingredients in bottom part of cocktail shaker (or cocktail pitcher or mixing glass), fill shaker with ice cubes, about 3/4 full. Stir with a bar spoon. Let the mixture “rest†30 seconds or so in order to allow the alcohol to chill and the ice to melt slightly, creating dilution, then stir again. Strain into a cocktail glass and add garnish.
Pewter tarnishes very slowly and requires almost no maintenance. Should you want to polish your pewter, almost any metal polish will do. The manufacturer recommends Cape Cod Metal Polish.
This pewter bar service collection does not contain lead and is completely food safe. To clean your pewter after using it, hand wash in warm water using a liquid dish soap. Dry the pewter completely. If water is allowed to dry on your pewter, it may cause spots which can easily be removed by using metal polish, or believe it or not, gently rubbing the area in small circular motions with “0000†steel wool.
David Reiss is an American designer who brought this glass, and a number of other Italian crystal and pewter products, to the U.S. He fell in love with the old soul of pewter on a trip to Lombardia, and felt the pewter and crystal products he observed abroad were exceptional in quality and aesthetic, different from what was then available in the United States.
His 17 year old company was the first to bring this very same Italian pewter to the American market. Every one of his products is handmade in Lombardia, FDA approved, food safe and contains no lead.
