Simple and elegant teapot ideal for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Handle and body cast in one piece from a blend of porcelain and red earth clay. Made in Japan since 1973. Pairs with our Japanese Ceramic Mug. (
The curved, inset handle of this porcelain teapot features a welcoming spot in which to nestle your thumb while handling and pouring, making it an agreeable companion for your mid-day coffee break or a late afternoon tea. The tea pot comes with a lid to keep your tea warm, and is perfectly sized for two cups of tea. The designer of this series named it “Moderato,” after the Italian music terminology for a moderate tempo that is not too fast or slow, but just right—in the hopes that your tea time will take note and follow suit.
The tea pot was made by Ceramic Japan Co., a ceramic studio formed in 1973 in the city of Seto, a locale so famous for its ceramics that their wares have a special name: Setomono. Their innovative designs, such as the “Crinkle Super Bag Vase K-2” designed by Makoto Komatsu, have landed them a place in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This tea pot is dishwasher safe.
