Iron garden clippers with a spring-loaded handle specially designed for a firm grip and easy use. Ideal for florists and home gardeners. Features a leather sheath and band for securing the clippers when not in use. Forged by hand in Ono, Japan. (
Whether trimming flowers, harvesting vegetables, or taming the shrubbery, working with a precision tool makes gardening a true pleasure. With a pleasantly substantial weight in the hand, these clippers are ergonomically shaped to provide a firm, comfortable grip, while the strong, sharp blades slice easily through stems and smaller branches.
Crafted from start to finish by a father and son team working in their family-owned ironworks, these clippers bear all the hallmarks of a truly handmade item that achieves a special balance between exceptional design and practical function. As they are made by hand one at a time, every finished pair of clippers is a unique object. Like the hands they are made to fit, no two are exactly alike.
You may notice that the tips of the blades overlap when closed. This design gives the clippers extra cutting power that aids in slicing through tougher branches and roots, and is a hallmark of the attention to detail that is paid when creating these handcrafted tools.
A note on stock: The clippers are made by four pairs of hands and therefore can only ever be ordered in small quantities. We tend to sell out fast - but we promise, they're worth the wait.
These sharp, precise clippers are ideal for both florists and gardeners. The sturdy, spring loaded blades can tackle thick stems and even smaller branches.
To ensure smooth action, these clippers may be lubricated from time to time at the screw that connects the two blades using a standard metal lubricant. To prevent rust, thoroughly wipe clippers free of moisture after every use. Place the leather sheath over the blades while not in use to protect them and help maintain a sharp edge.
For four generations, this family-run ironworks has been crafting scissors and shears in Ono, just northwest of Kobe, Japan. Here, each piece is forged and sharpened by hand using traditional methods that date back to the Showa period. Father and son Haruo and Daisuke work side by side in the metal shop to form, temper, shape, sharpen, and finally meticulously inspect every single pair of shears and scissors.
