Hand-sewn and produced in San Francisco, these natural linen food covers are a long-lasting alternative to disposable plastic wrap and tin foil. Transport your holiday pie safely to the potluck, or store leftover meat in the fridge.

These food covers are also handy for keeping flies and other pests away during outdoor dining and picnics, serving as an attractive and unique way to protect and shield your food.

Two layers of unprocessed, unbleached linen are joined with elastic to create a secure fit over varying sizes of dishware, from small condiment or nut bowls to pie plates or a large casserole dish. The covers are not airtight, so they might not keep your morning muffins or pumpkin bread fresh, but they will store vegetables, soups, meats and other leftovers nicely.

Use & Care

For best results and to preserve the linen covers, hand wash in cool water and hang dry. If preferred, the covers may also be machine washed in cold to warm water, then placed in the dryer on a low setting.

The food covers have been cut slightly larger to accommodate for shrinkage if you do decide to place them in the dryer.

Production & Design

In our increasingly throwaway material culture, textile designer Molly de Vries’s goal is to protect the earth for posterity by creating products “for a non-disposable life” and improve plastic pollution. These linen food covers are her solution to disposable plastic wraps and tin foil, which often end up clogging up our oceans and disturbing precious marine ecosystems. Her storefront, Ambatalia, located in the historic Mill Valley Lumber Mill complex near San Francisco, is named after a Trinidadian song. “Amba” means mother, and for Molly, we are all caretakers of our planet and each other.
