Maple wood butter dish with fitted lid and cutout for storage of accompanying spreader. Its deep, rounded corners allow for every bit of butter to be utilized. Designed by an award winning Japanese designer. (
The minimal design of this maple wood butter dish is deceptively simple, but its ingenuity will make you wonder why all butter dishes aren't made this way. Butter is stored neatly in the deep well, fitted with a secure lid.
A notch in the case provides easy, compact storage of the matching maple wood spreader (think: streamlined fridge storage), as well as providing a resting place for the spreader while out on the table. The rounded corners make it easy to scrape up every last bit of butter for that final slice of toast.
Hand wash only. If necessary, condition the wood with vegetable or mineral oil.
This simple but smarter butter dish was conceived by Oji Massanori, a Japanese designer who has received numerous of awards for his household objects. The butter dish design is put into the able hands of the wood-turners at the Takahashi Kougei workshop, founded by the Takahashi family in 1965.
