Merino wool pillow case in a classic tweed design dating back to 1956. Woven in Donegal, Ireland, by a third-generation weaver. Dry clean only. Comes filled with a down pillow. Also available in Natural and Charcoal. (
Toss a few of these 100% Merino wool pillows on your couch, bed or favorite chair to create a true haven to nestle up in. Flecks of yarn and thread alternate in the tweed design to create a highly textured, dappled appearance that adds a subtle accent and contrast to your room. The pure Merino wool is soft and comfortable to the touch.
In 1954, weaver Gerd Hay-Edie set up her workshop and design studio, Mourne Textiles, in the Mourne Mountains of Ireland. Gerd, a weaver since the age of 17, designed this tweed pattern in 1956. The tweed fabric was later made famous by Irish fashion designer Sybill Connoly, previously a designer for Givenchy and Tiffany, and acclaimed for the linen and cotton ensemble she created for American first lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
Gerd eventually passed her craft down to her daughter, Karen Hay-Edie, who is now the master weaver at Mourne Textiles. Today, Karen co-owns the company with her son, Mario Sierra, and the pair continue to draw inspiration from the company's rich archive of throws, pillows and rugs to create modern textiles alongside the classic designs.
Dry clean only.
