Clever bottle opener turned from a single piece of solid brass. Will develop a unique patina over time. Innovatively designed by a lighting architect and made in the UK. (
Pop the top off your favorite micro brews or classic sodas with this clever bottle opener. Precision turned from a single piece of solid brass, the weighty opener will elicit a unique satisfaction for every open bottle. Designed by lighting architect Luke Smith-Wightman, the opener was developed when the designer began using a precision machine that creates components for scientific instruments and audio equipment for another project. Smith-Wightman wanted to experiment with making a simple, functional item on the machine. While sipping a beer one evening, he decided to develop a bottle opener, and began working on sketches and models. In less than a month, he was opening brews with this solid brass bottle opener, which he dubbed the “pivo” after a traditional European term for beer. "The whole drinking experience is nicer when you have nice things around you," Smith-Wightman says. He has opened over 300 bottles with his clever tool.
Make sure that the outer, lifting edge of the opener is secured under the bottle cap, then lever towards the bottle, not straight up, to pop off the top.
Over time, the opener will develop a unique patina. If you wish, you may polish the brass to restore the original shine. Please note that small nicks in the surface of the opener are a part of the normal use and wear—these are markers of a bottle opener used well and often, not a defect in the product.
