A one of a kind collaboration between Leather Factory Roberu and 6Shiki Canvas. This strap is cut wide to allow for maximum comfort with the weightiest of cameras. Made in Japan. (
Capable of holding up to three kilograms of SLR camera heft, these hand-crafted Japanese straps are the fruits of a collaboration between Leather Factory Roberu, purveyors of premium leather goods from Yokohama, and 6Shiki, manufacturers of high-quality Kurashiki Canvas.
For the serious photographer, the comfort of canvas must be combined with the time-honored strength of leather. In Roberu and 6Shiki's collaboration, the two materials are tightly stitched together and fortified with brass rivets to a camera buckle. The durability and elegance of this is apparent the moment you first pull it around your neck. Load-bearing but lightweight and waterproof, this would stand up to an expedition through a rain forest.
Each is embossed with a leather hand-stitched label.
This is primarily composed of canvas which will withstand moisture without deformation or staining. The canvas will only soften and 'break in' to the neck's shape. Because it still features a ratio of leather however, still store it away from damp and high temperatures.
Roberu have been making premium-dyed leather goods using natural tannins for four years. 6Shiki maintains a canvas-making tradition long discontinued in the rest of the world. Their looms use a shuttle to pass cord through the weave, making the paraffin-dyed canvas strong and long-lasting. The shuttle loom—so antiquated it is no longer manufactured—produces a world-reknown canvas known as "Kurashaki Hanpu."
