These traditional bands have many uses. In Argentina, gauchos (nomadic horsemen and cowhands that live off the land) use them for saddling horses, while farmers use them to tie up bundles. The versatile bands are also particularly suited for traveling: they can be worn as a belt, tie or camera strap.

The bands are based upon the belts woven and worn by the Mapuche, an indigenous people native to Chile, Argentina and Patagonia. The Mapuche knew how to make a long lasting garment, as archeologists have unearthed textiles that survive from AD 1300-1350. A global-minded Los Angeles company teamed up with weavers in Argentina to create their version of this traditional woven cotton sash.

Use & Care

There are many ways to wear these bands. Tie each end of the band to your camera to create a comfortable strap. Wear them as you would a traditional tie. Knot the bands around your head during a long hike, or even around a bundle of clothes as you head to the laundromat. Or tie around your waist, using one of these methods:

Production & Design

Three brothers from Argentina founded this Los Angeles company in order to rethink how global consumer products should be made. Appropriately called Industry of All Nations, they travel the globe, conducting extensive research in order to connect and partner with family businesses and traditional manufacturers.

For these bands, Industry of All Nations teamed up with a family-run textile manufacturer that has been in operation for over 60 years and excels in creating woven products rooted in Argentinian history and culture.
